Sharing a context with a state machine doesn't make it easier, it make it harder as the state in the state machine is effected by all code that shares that context, in your case Qt can effect OSG without the OSG know what state Qt has changed and visa-verse.


If you had two separate contexts then each would have their own state machine and no issues with state being inherited silently and inappropriately.  OpenGL has a bit of support for push/popping some state but it's not complete and it's easy to miss bits, it's also not efficient, it's a hack.
