Hi All,

Right now I am a good place work wise to push out a point release of the OpenSceneGraph-3.4 branch which will be 3.4.1.

I can only test under Linux+NVidia and a bit under Windows 7 (using Windows feel like pull toenails out so I don't tend to focus here Smile  so really need others to dive in a test out the 3.4 branch on the full range of OS and dev tool combinations and against their own applications.

If there are issues in build or runtime let me know via this thread.

Thanks in advance for all your testing Smile

Robert

Hi Robert,

We're testing 3.4, and were wondering if the following patch could be cherrypicked into 3.4.1

https://github.com/openscenegraph/OpenSceneGraph/commit/ea9f479674da71c222696bd2254a7c91433365f1

This (should) allow builds that had conflicting fstream link errors to no longer be forced (excuse the pun) to use /FORCE:Multiple in the compile flags ,which override /INCREMENTAL, and thus speed up builds.

The patch seems isolated enough.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dennis,

Good suggestion, now cherry-picked into OpenSceneGraph-3.4 branch.

Robert.

Hey Robert,

Can I ask for a coverity_scan build before tagging the release?

Thx.

You can indeed ask Smile

The coverity_scan is based on master rather than the 3.4 branch so it won't affect the 3.4.1 release.

Doing a converity_scan and fix cycle is on my TODO list, should get to it soon as there haven't been many issues with 3.4.1 reported for me to chase up Smile

Humnm, we can have different coverity scan branches if we want to analyze several releases. Anyway is no problem for me to wait to 3.6 Smile.

Thanks Robert.

The purge of coverity scan issues took a lot of effort and time, it's not something I want to do again for anything other than master.  The number of changes required are too high to backport safely, and the value of those changes mostly aren't high value (i.e. they won't fix bugs that end users are likely to have.)  In a small number of cases there were bugs picked out that needed backporting, but I generally tackled these when I fixed them in master.

I did an update of the coverity_scan branch to master yesterday, but unfortunately the build failed due to timeout :

   https://travis-ci.org/openscenegraph/OpenSceneGraph/jobs/261921157

Disabling the wrappers might be required to get a successful build.

I restarted the job and it was timedout again after 49mins.  I don't know whether changes on the travis server are slowing things.  As things stand using travis for a coverity_scan is not viable, even disabling the build of major components of the OSG won't fix things.

Hi Robert,

I will try to make it work again. I'll ping you when I know something else (in a different trhead to not add noise to this one).

Thanks

Hi, Robert. When i compiling OSG 3.4.1 on Visual Studio 2012, got an error:

E: \ OpenSceneGraph-3.4.1-rc1 \ src \ osgUtil \ ShaderGen.cpp (199): fatal error C1017: Invalid integer constant expression

This is because of OSG_GLES2_FEATURES, OSG_GLES3_FEATURES and OSG_GL2_FEATURES, which are declared as #define bool. Visual Studio does not support #if with bool defines.

Cheers,
Nickolai

This is because of OSG_GLES2_FEATURES, OSG_GLES3_FEATURES and OSG_GL2_FEATURES, which are declared as #define bool. Visual Studio does not support #if with bool defines.

I have merged the OSG_GL*_FEATURES definitions from OSG master into OSG-3.4 so that these #define's in include/osg/GL should now appear as 0 and 1.

Could you try out the OpenSceneGraph-3.4 branch and let me know if things now work.  If they do I'll go ahead and make a rc2.

Cheers,

Robert.

Hi, Robert.

I checked. Now everything builded is fine.
There was another problem. When i run StatsHandler, the program crashes. I use GL2 settings.

This sounds like a regression.

Could you provide a stack trace for the crash?

Could you try testing the stats handler via a standard OSG example like osgviewer and then running it with various threading models i.e.

  osgviewer cow.osgt --SingleThreaded
  osgviewer cow.osgt --CullDrawThreadPerContext
  osgviewer cow.osgt --DrawThreadPerContext

And bring up the stats in each case a let me know if there is difference in behaviour, this should give more of clue as to what might be causing the crash.

Robert.
