Building OSG 3.6.4 in Win64 TDM GNU.

I am using Windows 64 bit home edition.
I am trying to build with OSG 3.6.4.
I am using graphical CMake 64

-Notwithstanding the settings messages, the following includes the messages that certain libraries are not present. However this time, it tells me that the are optional. It is telling me no, followed by yes. Can OSG work properly if I build, despite this configure error messages, or in the end, not? I am still not getting .h files with either .lib or .a files.

-I can't find anything I believe I can use on the EDL site. For Win64, what should I do for the lack of EDL support?

-Is there anyone out there with a file tree containing the necessary dependency libraries for build, that one can use, without MSVC?
If so can they upload, reply, inform about a web address?

Hi Zachary,

EGL is required for GLES, it's not required for OpenGL.

The rest of the listed libs that aren't available are OPTIONAL so fine to build the OSG without them.  If need the functionality associated with them, then you'll need to install that dependency and re-run CMake.

I have been planning to include all of them, anyway. I need them
all included.

-My issue is that I can't really find EGL, not on its own.
The only EGL that I can find is as a wrapper, and even then it requires
even more library content behind it.

-Is there anyone at your side of things, or even involved with
Objexx Engineering, who has the total dependency library set, in terms of files?

Even those involved with testing of OSG, particularly since a new .4
has just been released, that could be zipped an uploaded?

I doubt that any user has ever need to use all the optional components of the OSG, there are many for many different purposes, just work out what functionality you need and then add the dependencies that provide that functionality as you need them.

You don't need EGL unless you are building OpenGLES.

I don't have any connect with them.  I don't use Windows myself.

Is there some software out there that I canuse to convert
from a Win64 MSVC C++ build to a Win64 GNU one, for an example,
that I could use on the Objexx build, to short cut my entire problem?

This is more of a compiler question than an OSG/VSG question and as
such out of scope of this list.
Setting your build environment up is something you should learn to do
yourself if you have requirements outside what other contributors use
and this is clearly the case here.

Zachary,

I can give you a Linux VM for VirtualBox with OpenSceneGraph built
from sources, free of charge, if that's enough for you.

Regards,
Michael.

Not quite, unfortunately, it seems. I can't install linux at this time.

I was wondering if someone over there has a file tree of libraries that exists on a Windows 64 bit filesystem? I figure that OSG was programmed and tested on Windows, and that hoefully someone still has something for all the dependencies that could be easily copied in one fell hit, zipped and uploaded.

What are my chances?

All of the libraries and optionals? If I had to guess, close to zero.

Zachary,

you can use VirtualBox to run Linux VM as guest.
Once you get comfortable with OSG, you can move to Windows host yourself.

Michael.

Look at MSYS2 project - we provide prebuilded 32 and 64 bit mingw-w64 packages for OpenSceneGraph.

Read wiki: https://github.com/msys2/msys2/wiki

After installing MSYS2 and update packages to latest you can install 64-bit openscenegraph package as follow:
pacman -S mingw-w64-x86_64-OpenSceneGraph{,-debug}

Installing online content to MSYS2

-If I go through with Alexey's advice, will it be the case that this instance of OSG
mingw-w64-x86_64-OpenSceneGraph-3.6.3-4 will be able to
run on Windows in the absence of the MinGW environment, or in fact not?

-Does this pacman command from in this discussion thread produce a
build of OSG or an installation?

-Once I have succeeded installing 64 bit MSYS2, and I have also succeeded
in running the pacman command from before and installing the latest 64 bit OSG inside
MSYS2, where inside the MSYS2 directories on my (Windows 10 64 bit, native)
directory hierarchy do I go to copy out all of the OSG (Windows 10 64 bit, native)
files for native Windows 64 bit, so that I can compile and link to OSG with
native C++ programming, with the GNU compatible TDM g++ compiler?

(I am expecting a bunch of .lib and .a files inside directories, along with
all possible headers, .h files.)

Zachary,

sure OSG will run on Windows. Just make sure to distribute all
necessary DLLs along with your EXE.
You can find those DLLs with dependency walker: http://www.dependencywalker.com/

Michael.
