A problem during using Dwight tutorial

Hi,

I'm trying to install OSG 2.8.5 on a XP platform using Dwight tutorial. Everything goes well until the step 9 when it asks to check the osgversion by typing this term in a command line. Neither this nor the next step which is a double check for sample data set by typing "osgviewer cow.osg" don't work on my computer. I wonder what the reason could be for these two problems?

Thank you!

Cheers,
Saeed

When you say "don't work on my computer" what precisely do you mean?
Is it that no executable is found or that they crash or they
mis-behave in some way.

Robert.

If you check the following link, it says that "osgversion" command should give the version of osg to make sure that windows understands where osg is (step 9)

http://dwightdesign.com/2009/05/installing-openscenegraph-280/

When I enter this command, I get the following error:
"osgversion is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

I don't know why I get this error. Also, do you know any better tutorial to install version 2.8.5?

Thanks.
